We believe astronomy is for everyone – so you can access all the locations and events information on DarkOutdoors without registration.
If you want to add your own locations, events or comments to DarkOutdoors, you’ll need to register on the site. Â Luckily, registration is fairly easy.
First, click on the plus symbol (‘+’) in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. Â This is where you can log in, register or, once registered, access your profile, activity, friends and messages.
Click the link to ‘Create an Account’. Â Enter the details requested (please enter truthful answers, and please ensure you give a working e-mail address, because it will be required to activate your account). Â You can enter your Twitter username if you have one – this will place a link on your profile so that others can follow your Twitter account with a single click.
Once you’ve registered, you’ll receive an activation e-mail to the address you specified during registration. Â You’ll need to click the link in this e-mail before you will be able to log in to your new account.
Once you’ve activated, click the ‘+’ again for more options. Â We suggest you start by adding a profile picture, and maybe join a group or two.

If you’re having any trouble registering, please read these handy tips:
1. Clicking the ‘+’ symbol – this is the one in the RIGHT hand bottom corner (the left-hand one zooms the map, when it is shown). This ‘+’ button is where all the login / profile / messaging / social stuff is.
2. Filling in the registration form – make sure you fill in all the compulsory fields – and remember that your username must only contain lowercase letters and numbers – no spaces, capitals or punctuation. So ‘darkoutdoors’ would work whereas ‘Dark Outdoors’ would not!
3. Be very careful to enter your e-mail address correctly – you will need the automatic email that is generated when registering in order to activate your DarkOutdoors account!
