Another simple policy…
Our privacy policy is split into two parts – the bit you need to know and some other waffle that comes as standard with things like this. Â First the important bit:
- What’s Public:
Please assume that everything you post to DarkOutdoors is public. Â It will include your username, and your main profile fields and avatar are also visible to other members. Â If you don’t want to say something publicly, don’t post it here please. - Permanency:
Please also assume that everything you post is permanent, but don’t rely on it. Â There’s no explicit expiration of items/events/comments/etc posted to DarkOutdoors, but we do reserve the right to remove content as and when we please. Â Don’t expect us to delete it, or keep it! - Private Details:
Your e-mail address and postcode are kept private on DarkOutdoors. Â We won’t give them to anyone else and we won’t sell them to third parties. Â The only exception is for valid legal requests such as court orders. Â We may send you e-mail about DarkOutdoors or about our sponsors (though our sponsors won’t receive your personal details either). - Payment Details / Security:
We take the security of any online payments you make seriously. Â For this reason, DarkOutdoors doesn’t process payments internally – it is all handled by PayPal, one of the most trusted payment solutions providers in the World. Â We don’t take credit card details, store them or process them – we leave that to the experts!
And the rest of the legal ‘waffle’:
- Â Information Collected:
We gather information about our visitors in order to administer booking requests, enable social media functionality and give you access to edit your own locations and events. Â We may use this information to adapt the site navigation and statistically to assist us to tailor the site to our users’ requirements - Use of Cookies:
Like almost every site on the internet, DarkOutdoors uses cookies which store small amounts of non-personal information on your computer in order to improve your experience of the website. Â As it is HTML5 enabled, this may go further in the future too. Â None of the information will be used to gather personal stuff about you. Â You can turn off cookies if you wish, but it will lessen your experience of the site. - Access Right:
You have  right to access, or require the deletion of, any personal data we hold on you.  Please write to us at privacy@darkoutdoors.com with any such requests. - Internet-based Transfers:
Given that the Internet is a global environment, using the Internet to collect and process personal data necessarily involves the transmission of data on an international basis.  In particular, our live data is stored in the EU but encrypted backups may be exported to other areas.  Therefore, by browsing this Website and communicating electronically with us, you acknowledge and agree to our processing of personal data in this way.
